Gelatine as an important ingredient in this recipe to bind all other ingredients or gelatus in latin terminology, meaning "stiff" is a translucent, colorless, brittle when dry and flavorless food. Derived from collagen from various animal by-products. It is a mixture of peptides and proteins produced by partial hydrolysis. Collagen is extracted from the skin, bones and connective tissues of domesticated animals such as cattles, pigs, chicken, horses and also from fish. It is used in food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and photography. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org.
